The Fillmore
Versatile American rock band Sevendust are hitting the road once again in 2025 and into early 2026 with two back to back tours. First up on the agenda is the incredibly exciting Southside Double-wide Tour, a string of all-acoustic sets taking place nationwide in celebration of their critically-acclaimed acoustic live album, Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live. Catch them live at The Fillmore in New Orleans, Louisiana this winter. See you then!
Sevendust released their debut self-titled studio album at an interesting time in heavy music. In the late 90s and early 00s, dozens of diverse, versatile, and incredibly versatile metal bands came out with their first records, and the vast majority of them were subsequently boxed into the media’s new favourite label: nu metal. Whatever you want to call Sevendust specifically, however, is completely up to you. Just make sure you grab yourself a seat at one of their acoustic sets this December. Seriously, don’t miss out!
When Sevendust burst onto the scene with their debut record in 1997, fans didn’t know what to think, all they knew was that they liked it. From the beginning, Sevendust has always been hard to define genre-wise. Because they were a progressive and slightly mainstream metal band in the late 90s, they were inevitably dubbed nu metal by the media, but that’s far from the only label used to describe the band. Over the years they’ve been called alternative metal, hard rock, grunge, heavy metal, industrial metal, and that’s just naming a few.
As the band developed and continued to release more material, their music evolved at a rapid rate, leaving critics to simply just throw out whatever labels sound right in the moment when describing each new record. Most recently, Sevendust released their fourteenth studio album, Truth Killer, which is best described as alternative metal mixed with hard rock. And now, the band is celebrating 21 years of their acoustic live album, Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live with a subsequent tour. They’ll be travelling far and wide this time around, but make sure you tune in to their show at The Fillmore in New Orleans, Louisiana. Be there!
Sevendust are one of the most successful bands to come out of the early 00s nu metal craze, but that’s not the crazy part. The real kicker is, after all these years, fans and critics alike hesitate to even still classify them as “nu metal.” The band’s sound is diverse, with influences ranging all across the board from soul to hip hop to good old fashioned heavy metal.
Each of their albums packs a completely different punch, so to try and box the band themselves in as one specific brand of metal or rock is just unfair. But all that aside, only one thing is for certain: fans have been waiting decades for Sevendust to do another acoustic live set. And now, after all these years, they’ve got a reward for their patience: the upcoming Sevendust Southside Double-wide Tour, which will feature all acoustic versions of the band’s most iconic songs. It’s gonna be huge! So watch out, New Orleans! Get your tickets now to get in on the action.
