Slow Burn Tour 2025

The Fillmore New Orleans is like no other. Tucked right into the beating heart of the Big Easy and the home of contemporary jazz, we’re thrilled to welcome the one and only Boney James to our musical happy place on Friday the 24th as part of his much-anticipated 2025 Slow Burn Tour. With a decades-spanning career that bridges the sleekness of smooth jazz and the soul of R&B iconic sounds, Boney is bringing his signature saxophone sound back to the live stage for a run of shows that feel personal, powerful, and full of his new fire even after running the game for the last four decades. It’s truly a full-circle moment for Boney, who has spent the last half century  redefining what contemporary jazz can feel like, sound like, and move like. And lucky for us - we get him right here in the peak of NOLA fall time. The Slow Burn Tour hits cities across the U.S. through the fall, and we’re especially honored that New Orleans made the list. There’s something about Boney’s style — romantic, nocturnal, and above all groove-heavy —that feels like it was built for a city ours to be honest. So whether you’ve been following him since the Seduction days or just discovered the velvet touch of his horn on newer tracks like “Coastin’,there's no denying that seeing Boney live is an experience worth circling on the calendar.

Boney James, born James Oppenheim, came up in the Los Angeles session scene in the late '80s and early '90s, backing artists like Morris Day and the Isley Brothers before breaking out as a solo artist with Trust in 1992. Since then, he’s gone on to become one of the most celebrated saxophonists of his generation—earning multiple GRAMMY nominations, topping the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts more than a dozen times, and building a fiercely loyal fanbase in the process. His latest record, Detour (2022), and now the follow-up Slow Burn, see Boney diving deeper into the sensual, atmospheric, R&B-laced grooves that have always set him apart from his peers.

We recommend giving Lights Down Low or Maker of Love a spin if you want a preview of the vibe. Better yet — let the man himself show you what it’s all about when he takes the stage, so maybe check out the video we linked below to how he brings the energy in person. We’ll be here, ready to dim the lights, cue the mood, and get swept up in the magic of the night with you. See you real soon, right here at the Fillmore!
